    Education:

  • Dr. Shanna Nelson

    DVM

I grew up in southwest Missouri, went to Drury University for undergrad and the University of Missouri for vet school, and then did an internship near Kansas City at an equine referral practice before coming to Fox Creek. I started riding horses at a young age and became interested in their keeping and medical care as a result. I love being an advocate for the patient and helping the animal to live its happiest, healthiest life while managing the expectations and concerns of the owner. I am a member of the AAEP (American Association of Equine Practitioners) and I have a research background accrued as a veterinary student (two studies regarding the endocrinopathic mechanism of laminitis and the patterns of naturally-occurring compensatory lameness). My awards include previous prestigious scholarships from the AAEP, AQHA (American Quarter Horse Association), Phi Zeta Veterinary Honor Society, ACVIM (American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine), and the Gentle Doctor award. My passions include preventative medicine and general animal welfare/husbandry to improve the human/animal bond. My family consists of my fiancé, Jeremie, is a research scientist. Together, we have a dog, Dobie; three cats, Ophelia, Xena, and Gaia; two guinea pigs, Atlas and Chronos; and a chinchilla, Petra. I also have two horses named Brandy and Bones. In my free time I enjoy music, creating artwork, hiking, and exploring.

    Education:

  • Dr. Rebecca Nichols

    DVM

Dr. Rebecca Nichols is a 2008 graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. She completed a one-year small animal rotating internship in Seattle, Washington, and spent the next several years in small animal practice before moving back to the Midwest in 2013 to join the staff at Stray Rescue of St Louis. While at the animal rescue, she picked up many skills, including minimally invasive sterilization techniques, management of canine and feline behavior problems, and effective strategies to treat and contain infectious diseases. Even though she found shelter medicine very rewarding, Dr Nichols missed the relationships she was able to develop while caring for other people’s pets. She was very excited to join the team at Fox Creek Veterinary Hospital in 2019. While her special interests include surgery and dermatology, Dr Nichols enjoys anything that will help strengthen the bond between an owner and their pet. Dr Nichols lives in Chesterfield with her husband Mark, her kids (Zach, Annie, and Ben), two dogs (Chance and Cricket), and single cat (Felix). In her spare time she enjoys hanging out with her family, doing art with her kids, gardening, and occasionally taking in a yoga class.

    Education:

  • Dr. Andy Schroeck

    DVM

Dr. Andy Schroeck is the newest veterinarian at Fox Creek Veterinary Hospital! Dr. Schroeck began working in the veterinary field in 2015 and his areas of interest include dentistry and anesthesia. The best part about being a veterinarian, according to Dr. Schroeck, is getting to work with people every day who share his compassion for animals and desire to help strengthen the human-animal bond between owners and their pets. He values being able to help owners better understand the functions (and dysfunctions) of their beloved companions. Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Schroeck recently moved to Creve Coeur, Missouri where he lives with his significant other, who also happens to be a veterinarian, and their two rescued guinea pigs named Thad and Thud. In his spare time, Dr. Schroeck enjoys weightlifting, bike riding, golfing, watching The Office, spending time with family and friends, volunteering as a camp counselor for children with Muscular Dystrophy, and rooting on his favorite sports teams – most notably the Cleveland Browns. Dr. Schroeck is so excited to meet the clients of Fox Creek and get to know your pets!
